Yoga Practice:
Pyramid Pose
Benefits:
Stretches the spine
Lengthens and stretches the leg muscles
Improves posture
Instructions:
From Mountain Pose take a comfortable step back with the right leg.
You want the back heel to be on the mat or floor.
Step the front foot out a bit to make space between the feet.
The hands can be placed on the hips.
Take a breath and on your exhale begin to fold at the hips over the front leg.
Feel free to stop at a flat back or if comfortable, continue to fold more toward the front leg.
Here you can place the hands around the front shin, ankle or place the fingertips on the floor to frame the front foot.
You can also make a bend in the front knee for more comfort.
To come out of the pose, begin to lift the chest and torso to an upright position.
Bend the front knee a bit and step the back foot to the front into Mountain Pose.
