Yoga

YMTP² understands the definition of yoga as a group of physical and mental practices or disciplines that originated in ancient India. The word yoga is a translation of a Sanskrit term yoke, meaning union. We understand and define this union as the interdependence of the breath, body, and awareness.

This definition and understanding of the word yoga comes from the main yoga text, the Bhagavad Gita, as a solution that Krishna offers Arjuna for overcoming his inability to participate in his life. Facing conflict and despondence, the main character of the text, Arjuna, is presented yoga by Krishna as an alternative way of being.

YMTP² values yoga as an alternate way of being and as an opportunity to interrupt unconditional patterns of stimulus and response, in which the participant is given the gift of making a new more reflective choice, with elevated awareness of the mind, body, and the breath.
