
Yoga Warm-Up:
Seated Wide Angle Pose
Benefits:
Stretches the inner thighs (adductors) and hamstrings
Strengthens the spine
Stimulates the abdominal muscles and organs
Instructions:
Beginning in staff pose with the legs stretched out in front of you.
Separate the legs to a wide position.
Be sure the position is comfortably wide.
Bring the hands in front of you and begin to walk them out away from you.
Keep the spine as long as possible.
Notice when the back needs to round, back up a bit and maybe come forward a bit more.
Take time to be in this position for a few breaths.
Coming out of the pose, walk the hands back in toward yourself.
Grab hold of the inner knees, lean back a bit and draw the legs in.
Ending in staff pose or another comfortable seated position
