Yoga Warm-Up:

Cat Cow

Benefits:

 

Creates flexibility in the spine

Stretches the back and neck

Gently stimulates and strengthens the abdominal organs and muscles

Instructions:

 

Come onto all 4’s.

Place the palms firmly on the surface you are on with the fingers evenly spread. Place the wrists slightly in front of the shoulders.

Place the knees under the hips.

On an inhale press into the surface you are on and begin to lift the chest forward and up. Gently pull the belly in as the spine sinks a bit creating an arch in the spine.

On an exhale, reverse the action by rounding the spine up to the ceiling, releasing the head and looking into the belly.

Continue this movement with the breath as many times as it feels comfortable.
