Mindfulness

YMTP² defines mindfulness as the ongoing practice of awareness of internal emotions, thoughts and sensations as well as external sights, sounds and interactions, and how they affect your moment-to-moment experiences while driving your responses. We honor the definition provided by American professor emeritus of medicine and the creator of the Stress Reduction Clinic and the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Jon Kabat-Zinn. Kabat-Zinn defines mindfulness as awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgementally. In addition Kabat-Zinn sometimes adds to this understanding, in the service of self-understanding and wisdom.
